Shackled in the Kilns
It begins with desperation: a sick child, an empty table, a bill a family cannot pay. They borrow from the kiln owner, signing contracts they cannot read. Instead of working off the debt, they are trapped.
Paid as little as 5 cents an hour while false fees multiply the loan, their debt only grows. Twelve to fourteen hours a day, seven days a week, they mold bricks until their hands bleed. When they die, the debt is passed on to their children.
"Slavery becomes an inheritance."
Jubilee for All
In the Bible, Jubilee was God’s decree that debts would be erased and captives set free. For families enslaved in Pakistan’s brick kilns, Jubilee means the impossible: freedom.
Over the last four years, we have rescued 49 families from modern-day slavery. But we realized that rescue is not enough. Without support, 9 out of 10 families fall back into the same trap.
Our Restoration Plan:
- Place the family under the care of a local church.
- Provide housing, food, and basic needs for 2-3 months.
- Train them with sustainable business and trade skills.
